Michael Crichton

November 5th, 2008

It is my sad duty to report that Michael Crichton has died at the young age of 66.

I’ve been a very, very big fan of Crichton for years after my dad introduced me to the author in the years before “Jurassic Park” was a movie. After reading “Park,” I went on to find and read every novel that Crichton had ever written. I regret that I haven’t made the time to read the last couple of his novels - “State of Fear” and “Next.” Certainly that is something I need to correct.

For more on the life of the man with many talents, visit the Michael Crichton website [which seems to be currently down] at MichaelCrichton.net, or the WikiPedia entry.

Thanks for the great stories, Michael. You’ll be missed.

Lord Obama - Savior of the Universe!

November 4th, 2008

So America has decided to delve deep into the abyss of socialism and marxism by choosing the vague, misty, empty values of Hope and Change.

I watched as much TV as I could stomach… words upon words from the Obamessiah’s victory speech about Hope and Change, and Hoping for Change… and Change!

However, I noted that I didn’t see or hear anything from Joe Biden. Where is ol’ Joe? He should provide some good sound bites during the next four years for conservative talk radio. Provided that the “fairness doctrine” doesn’t silence talk radio, as Democrats are hoping it will.

So before my freedoms are all but taken away, and Obama’s KGB is knocking on my door to take my money and my faith, and force me to join the civilian militia… I give you, the Democratic Messiah:

Predictions?

November 3rd, 2008

Ok, here we are. Twenty-four hours to go before we get an idea of what the next four years will look like. (Here’s a sneak-peek from Obama’s first four years.)

Here’s what I’m thinkin’…

If Obama Wins…

Do you think we’ll see rioting in the streets? It wouldn’t be the first time that success yeilded riots.

If Obama Loses…

The far left will decry the election stolen… riots in the streets? Yeah, I’d believe it. If you believe people will riot if he wins, just imagine what happens if he loses.

Star Trek - Reimagined?

October 26th, 2008

Yes, I freely admit it: I’m a fan of Star Trek.

Unfortunately, over the years, it’s lost it’s luster for me. Not so much the original series and cast, but the treatment it received. I’ve always thought it could be more than it was. Instead, it seemed to be getting the “red-headed step-child” treatment: Paramount wanted money from it, but wasn’t really interested in investing money in it.

Coming in May 2009, I may get my wish.

Meet the crew of the USS Enterprise. Again.

And read about the coming film. I don’t believe there are any plot spoilers, but read at your own risk.

Star Trek: New Movie, New Vision.

Sarah!

October 2nd, 2008

Ah, but the debate was indeed fun.

Yes, yes.. Team Obama will claim victory… Team McCain will too…

Critics will complain that Sarah didn’t answer the moderator’s questions.

Good. The moderator - Gwen Ifill - is too busy thinking about her pro-Obama book and various other articles that will garnesh her some cash. She deserves to be mostly ignored.

But I’m sorry… Sarah Palin kicked some Biden booty tonight. That’s some good stuff.

Check out Michelle Malkin’s roundup of the debate. More good stuff.

Also, Gateway Pundit has some photos from after the debate. Yet more good stuff. Funny, I don’t recall seeing that on teevee. Too bad. Would have been nice to see the lack of libs after the show that - by now - they’ve claimed victory of.

Where’s my ballot? I need to vote for the Palin/McCain ticket.

Is It Global Warming?

September 27th, 2008

What is the deal with 2008? I mean, people - famous or otherwise - die all the time, but it’s been a heckuva run this year, hasn’t it?

On Aloha Daze alone, I’ve noted the passing of Arthur C. Clarke, George Carlin, Jerry Reed, and now Paul Newman.

And it’s not October yet!

It’s a troubling trend for the next/last three months of the year.
